What background was most represented in Yazoo County School District schools in 2021-22 school year?

Black students made up 43.9% of the 1,370 students enrolled in Yazoo County School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 20.2% decrease from the previous school year.

Yazoo County High School had the highest enrollment in the district with 470 students.

A snapshot of Yazoo County School District schools showed 43.9% of students were Black, 37.6% were white, and 5% multiracial.

Yazoo County School District roughly covers three schools within Yazoo County and has a main office in Bentonia.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
